Here’s a summer image from a few seasons ago, although you wouldn’t know it was summer judging by the lack of sunshine. I had a few days with a friend doing landscape and nature photography in Northumberland. We were frustrated by a trip to a sea bird colony being cancelled due to high wind so we spent the time scouting locations in the hope of a break in the weather. A quick diversion to the fish and chip shop on Amble quay side was obviously an absolute necessity and then we checked out the lighthouse.
The light was bright, hazy and pretty boring. However, I thought that I might be able to get something worthwhile with a black and white conversion to emphasis the simplicity of the scene. The original colour shot just didn’t work for my eyes.
